LG Watch Sport Review

Some LG Smart Watch User Manuals PDF are above the page.

Android Wear 2.0 is the second attempt by Google to create an OS that is suitable for wrist gadgets, and much more promising. The system first appeared on the LG Watch Sport and Watch Style, which were developed in collaboration with Google.

We’ve got used to the fact that modern smart watches look approximately like the Casio G-Shock series, or the new WSD-F10 and WSD-F20 from the same company. Many controls and striking bright design. This is not the case with the LG Watch Sport - the minimalist design stainless steel case distinguishes this smart watch among others. From the usual sports items can be noted polyurethane strap, the degree of protection against water IP68 and GPS. Now there are 3 buttons, so Watch Sport is more functional than Watch Style. The large 1.38-inch P-OLED display looks great. Usually we all prefer the leather strap, but the rubber in this case looks more stylish.

Watch Sport Watch is too bulky and heavy, they can not just put on and forget. In general, they are inconvenient for wearing, and the rubber strap (which cannot be replaced) so rubs the wrist that the device wants to be removed as soon as possible. The screen is protected by heavy-duty glass Gorilla Glass 3, the light sensor reduces the brightness of the display and makes it monochrome if the owner does not look at the screen. Responsible for the performance of the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 and 768 MB of RAM. Also worth noting is 4 GB of internal memory, a 430 mAh battery, support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and LTE, the latter will require a SIM card. NFC technology is available for Android Pay.

The first version of Android Wear had to scroll through many screens to get to the desired settings. This negated the main advantage of smart watches over smartphones - the ability to quickly access everything you need. In Android Wear 2.0, the interface has been simplified. It is enough to hold your finger down to open the quick settings, a finger up to open the alerts. The bezel is used as a scroll wheel, to zoom in and out of maps, etc. Not all applications are fully updated, so the new scroll wheel or improved notification system does not work everywhere. The Google Play store is supported, which means you don’t have to download separate Wear apps and score smartphone software that can be used exclusively on the watch.

It is inconvenient to search applications using a small screen; it is better to use a computer or a paired smartphone for this. The LG Watch Sport processor provides a generally stable performance, but when downloading or updating applications, the system hangs. Downloading apps, entering a store, and even using Google Assistant, takes longer than usual on a smartwatch.

In Wear 2.0, the settings are much simpler. It is enough to swipe left or right across the screen to scroll through the dials, each of which has an settings icon. Like a traditional smart watch, you can add a stopwatch and date to the LG Watch Sport display. At the top are reminders of events and not only. We also have access to additional notifications from third-party applications.
